I realize that I am horrible about writing in my blog. Usually, I am in such a hurry so I only have time to post the pictures. I would like to tell you a little more about our trip to camp.
We started our vacation going to Story Land in Glenn, NH since it is kind-of sort-of on the way to camp. A whole day at a crowded children's theme park in the baking sun with a nine month old is not my idea of fun. And the tea cups... need I say more? The things I will do it for the kids and for Rich. (Rich loves these trips with the kids. He is already trying to talk me into the fair. Ugh!) Rich was disappointed that they wouldn't try the log flume. We made it through the day and the boys had a blast. After stuffing everyone in the car with a turkey sandwich, we were on our way to camp. We arrived at bedtime and were happy to see that Dad and Bryan were already there. While we were unpacking Rich asked me how I enjoyed Story Land. He was shocked at my response that I thought it was complete misery.
The first two days at camp were beautiful. We went swimming, boating and tubing. We took the boat all the way to the end of the lake. It took about an hour round trip. The kids were with me and my parents. By the time we stopped, they were both asleep. The rocking of the waves was too much for them. My dad is new to boating and his boat is way too big. So he came coasting up to the dock to let us out. I decided that I should be the one to take charge, so I jumped off onto the dock and grabbed hold of the boat. Well, the boat was going a little too fast but I was trying to pull it back with all my might. Before I knew it, the boat had taken me with it and I was dangling over the lake. I had to drop in, fully clothed. Ahh!
The kids were terrified to go tubing, and understandably so, as they have watched the adults get whipped around on the waves. So I had to bribe them. I promised a handful of gummy bears for anyone who dared get in the tube. It worked like a charm. Of course they loved riding in the tube.
A considerable amount of our time was spent playing our favorite game, Settlers of Catan. My father recently purchased the expansion pack so more can play. This was very exciting. During one game, things got heated and Rich knocked over his huge glass of water all over the board and cards. He was horrified. We tried to dry it out but some of the pieces are bowed. We have to hold them in place with rocks. Ugh.
Having a baby at camp is not much fun. After four days I was more than ready to leave. Jack wanted to crawl so bad but the floor was dirty with everyone coming in and out. If I did let him roam, he was into the dog dish or eating something gross.
We saw two moose and a fox on this trip. Rich was really frustrated with the kids when we saw the first moose. They were watching a movie on the DVD player and weren't too interested in the giant moose. So, on the way home the movie didn't come out until we were out of the deep woods. We are so grateful to have this camp, a great family, and all the memories.

It sounds like a long trip. Camp with kids, I can see the problem. I didn't know that you guys play settlers. You really need to try Knights of Catan. You'll never go back. It is the best.
I'm laughing so hard at your comments. I agree "family vacation" is never really a vacation for mom's. I always wish I had a vacation planned for just me when we get home from something like that, sounds like so much fun though and lots of good memories.
We want to come to Maine and go to camp with you!
I can't believe how your little family has grown! It is so nice to see you and what you are up to. You look beautiful as always! Love ya.
